We are happy to announce that we are opening Hunter Thompson’s writer’s cabin again to overnight guests as a fundraiser for the restoration and historic designation of Owl Farm. The price varies depending on season and is based on local rates of cabin rentals.
Owl Farm is a private residence and only invited guests are allowed. Hunter's wife, Anita, plans to continue to host small events that do often include invitations from members of the public who have requested private tours. Woody Creek is a unique place with excellent neighbors, so we do not allow walk-ins or trespassers under any circumstances. Though we do welcome our invited guests with open arms. Hunter S. Thompson’s Writing Cabin contains one of Hunter S. Thompson's desks in a peaceful ranch style cabin on his Owl Farm compound. Under some circumstances, Hunter Thompson’s wife, Anita, who continues to live in the main house that is right next to the cabin, invites guests to tour the main house rooms that she maintains in museum-like quality. Because Owl Farm is her private residence, a tour is not necessarily included in cabin stay, but will be happy to coordinate with our onsite security and caretaker to welcome you to main house if possible.
Owl farm writer’s cabin is full of Gonzo history with two bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchen/bar/ living room area with views of Dr. Thompson’s Owl Farm Red Cliff Canyon, Woody Creek mesa and entire Woody Creek Valley.

-We encourage our writers and artists who stay here to walk up to Hunter’s memorial labyrinth on the upper mesa of Owl Farm, which is a few minute walk. Allow extra time for your walk during snow season.
-Peacock pen adjacent to cabin provides constant view of the birds in their own habitat.
-Writing tools provided, including Thompson’s model typewriter, Owl Farm Stationary, Hunter’s books, reference books, and special requests taken into consideration.
- 20 minute drive to downtown Aspen, 10 minute drive to the airport.
- Complementary wi-fi or it can be disconnected if you would like to be "off the grid."
-Smoking allowed only in designated areas.
-We do not condone unlawful activity on the property.
-A guest agreement and liability waiver must be signed by guests upon arrival along with photo ID.
- Respecting Hunter's home and legacy is a priority.
-$300 standard cleaning fee will be added, or more added for extra guests and if there are damages etc.
-This is a private residence, only invited guests are allowed.
